The beginning - How it all started
[…] democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.
Winston Churchill
As most of you hasn’t yet experienced any other system than democracy, to have a clue of our situation you must use your imagination. Imagine your authority dividing you into “real Poland” and “communist forces” depending on who voted for them and who did not. Imagine your Prime Minister talking hours about moral revolution and at the same time turning his head against the crimes of anyone who can grant him parliamentary majority. Imagine all public posts being openly taken over by people of middle-aged outlooks who are way too narrow-minded to understand the modern world and who make idiotic decisions, not justifying them to anyone. Imagine xenophobes, racists and anti-Semites who are now your government’s closest partners and now being able to show their outlooks to the world. Think of a world where your government wants to control all forms of authority, the national media and who calls their past or present opponents traitors… Unimaginable? We initially thought the same, but we had to adapt to the new reality sooner than we thought …
The present - How we act
However good your intentions are, you cannot use a hammer to kill a fly sitting on a window.
Marek Borowski
Contrary to some opinions, our motto is not about fighting a certain party or organisation. Polishpolitics.com is kind of a diary, where all the little facts showing our government’s true face are jotted down for you to see what can emerge of not using you democratic privilege - the right to vote. Why the English version? Because, as life taught us, our government is deaf to internal criticism, but they are sensitive to any foreign voice of concern. That explains the need for a page in English, describing Poland’s internal affairs. We are often sharp in our opinions, statements and criticism, but some spontaneity is a virtue here. We are not politicians or political students, we have some reasonable experience in different sciences, such as biology, history, economics, medicine and politics - therefore we are able to confront the politicians’ theories with our professional knowledge. We use various sources, mostly based on Polish press, TV, radio and Internet portals, yet we are very eager to include other sources from time to time. Check this page to see, what kind of your help and interaction will be most appreciated.
The future - Our aims
It is easy to criticize your predecessor’s totalitarian methods of governing, yet difficult to resist the desire to use the most comfortable of them yourself.
Myself
We WERE, ARE and WILL ALWAYS BE against stupidity, arrogance and greed in politics. If one has been chosen in a democratic way, he must remember that democracy is both privileges and duties. We favour universality, openness and the ability to compromise; we do not accept anyone who uses conspiracy theories to justify his and his subordinates’ lack of sills and worships his own outlooks, not allowing any others. Whoever this may concern, the present government or the future one, we will be watching him scrupulously… And no political favours can save them from our critics, as soon as they deserve it.
