We received the following appeal today and are publishing it in its entirety below. If you know someone planning something - pass it on.

Ladies and Gentlemen !!!

As of yesterday Poland is deep in a serious political crisis. With the best interests of the nation in mind, we have decided to continue to protest against Jarosław Kaczyński’s government.

We’d like to invite every resident of Warsaw and its surrounds to participate in a street protest. We will be meeting today at 17.00 infront of Parliament (ed. this would have started by the time you read this - but with any luck they are still there and waiting for you). A concert stage and field mess is planned. The aim of the protest is to voice society’s objection to the further degeneration of the values of democracy by the Law and Justice government.

We are convinced that only the Polish people are able to defend the good name of Polish democracy and respect to the institutions of public office. We trust that together we will be able to bring back normality.

If you’re interested how foreign media percieve our most recent happenings, then we recommend the following reading: BBC News, New York Times, MSNBC, Guardian, Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post as well as many, many more.

If you’re reading this on PolishPolitics.com and not spieprzajdziadu.com then I don’t need to tell you that our English version now has it’s own website on Polishpolitics.com. With as little delay as possible, every article from the Polish version as well as from this week subtitled versions of videos, will turn up here for our English speaking friends thanks to the efforts of Pelé and Lars. Pass on the good word to all the foreigners amongst us who are interested in the Polish political scene.

We’ve just finished listening to the Prime Minister’s address. We found out that:
- the budget is good and safe, plenty of pennies for everyone (ice hot)
- 2006 is the best of the last 17 years (earlier ones were better?)
- anyone who voted for PiS can be proud of that (what about the rest of us?)
- we’re pleased with the liquidation of WSI (Army Intelligence Services) and expansion of CBA (Central Anticorruption Bureau) (we feel better already)
- we only have left to change the head of the central bank and the Constitutional Tribunal, who are getting in the way (impartial? independent? anyone know those words?)
- PolishPolitics is part of the “grey net” according to the words of a “prominent analyst of the polish political scene” (who remains anonymous)
- the grey net is retaliating!
- the Beger affair is a provocation (where do we know that one from?)
- those who want to bring back power to the Plot in Poland, want to give power to those, who used to make up the groups holding power (but what does it all mean?!)
- the good ole PM won’t let them!
- he is going to defend the right direction from public opinion (what is he on about?)
- phew, done

As reported on TVN24, opponents of Jarosław Kaczyński as Prime Minister are grouping infront of Parliament. Nice weather and plenty of room for everyone. See you there!

We now know everything having watched Kuchciński’s press conference. Firstly, it’s an ugly political provocation. Secondly, it’s backed by the same forces that ousted Olszewski’s government, ie left wingers and liberals. Thirdly, activities are underway in the Parliament with the use of technical equipment used by secret services. It’s a coup by the destitute left wingers and liberals, who are afraid of PiS’ success in building the IV RP. We need a Political Commission in the matter of the provocation to determine it’s source (even though everyone knows who they are).
Oh and a webcam is “a specialised technique used by special services” - even reporters burst out laughing at that one.

Update: Where’s Jacek Kurski???

We all know what’s going on in the parliament, so a little deviation to “a different ekttle of fish”. Roman “the Educator” Giertych has decided that it’s time for a change in student’s reading material. High school students will have to read Henryk Sienkiewicz’s “Krzyżacy” and “Potop” forming appropriate anti German and anti Western sentiments. After absorbing a suitable dose of “anty-ism” they will have the chance to get to know John Paul II’s work “Memory and identity”. They will however, not get the chance to read the works of Gombrowicz - surely because of texts debating the Catholicism, Marksism and existentionalism, which he published in his “Diary” printed by the Parisian “Culture”. Gombrowicz turned out to be an anti-Polish educationel. Looks like Roman Giertych found certain autobiographical threads in “Ferdydurke”, which hit too close to home.

Today’s edition of “Teraz My” ran a tape filmed with a hidden camera, on which Adam Lipiński, head of the Prime Minister’s political cabinet, is bribing Renata Beger to get her to join PiS’ ranks. When talk turns to the position of secretary of state in the Agricultural Ministry the reply is “You know, it’s no problem, we have plenty of available positions, I mean plenty, there’s no issue with that”. When Beger asks about court proceedings against her, she hears “There’s no point in lying, I suggest…someone who is knowledgeable on this would meet with you. You’d tell them what the deal is, he will tell you and you can make a decision, if matters are already in motion, you can’t stop them in any way…” What about the guarantees? “I mean, it will be like this: he calls the guarantees, a protest or revocation is made against an MP in some legal form, the guarantee is blocked, the case runs its course and is won in court. According to Ziobro the case is a sure thing. (…) Right, we also thought about creating a fund that could, until such time as the matter is resolved, let me put it this way, cover for the MPs should, God forbid, the debt collector come into play.” (the complete transcript)

Update: here’s a copy of the recording, thanks to Grzesiek.

Long awaited, highly anticipated… You’ve been waiting with baited breath but were afraid to ask… And, and, and… Here comes the first fully subtitled episode of the Monday Night Show, which will now regularly serve weird and wacky adventures of our Polish political heroes. Due to supernatural, paranormal complications of a variable yet unpredictable nature this moment was delayed slightly, but now you have it, for your eyes only.

Okay. We’re not as good as Mr. Cymañski in forming complicatedly beautiful yet utterly false statements, so to cut a long story short. The above means that either our PCs are to blame or we were just too lazy to get around to it any earlier. Anyhow, enjoy ;-)

Beginning with our PM’s messy hair. Ain’t he sweet?.

The vice-PM daydreaming.

Another vice-PM excusing his subordinates from Samoobrona from being caught drunk on camera.

Roman the Educator explains why no representative of Ministry of Education appeared on the Education Commission sitting.

Roman making long-term plans he may not live up to (at least as a minister).

Deputy Cymański calling for a cease of the “attacks” aimed at PiS.

Wojtuś W., reminiscing his transformation from a riot starter into a deputy in the Sejm.

The President’s cell phone just won’t stop ringing.

Only Era gives you that!

Who is an educationel*?

*Don’t look up in your dictionary or Wikipedia. This word does not exist in English. Yet we had to name it somehow. More details soon in FAQ.

Artur Zawisza gets a bit irritated when asked about an award received from Social Credit and Savings Banks.

Wojtek Wierzejski moving out of Roman the Educator’s shade.

What is a parliamental obstruction?

The omnipresent Jarek.

The SLD advertisment - an alternative version.

The Potato Song.

Majewski vs Giertych - a detailed coverage.

A real professional form Radio Merkury MB.

Tusk’s opinion about “The Contact Lens” show.
